Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

aka UNIA update from the Project Manager...

So, we didn't make it for Halloween, as you may have noticed. My IM box is getting full of questions daily: "When does Unia open?" "Why aren't you open yet?" "What's taking so long?" I just smile and reply: "When we're ready." It's amazing that people are so interested in this project and I would love to give a launch date, but the truth is that I honestly don't know it myself yet.

The concept of Unia was large to begin with, but as we're filling in the details, it keeps growing. The community is used to us bringing out new hunts month after month. Surely, if we can do those so fast, then why is Unia taking this long?  I'm not even sure how many months we have been working on Unia now, we're all lost in the madness of it all...

What, you're saying Unia is NOT A HUNT???

No, Unia is far from being a hunt. I know people seem to think that all we do are hunts and while I do love the fact that hunts bring us recognition, I'd like to take you back a few years and remember games like the Kaaos Effect, Virtual Medical Doctor, Notes from the Voyage, Firefly, Swamp Hotel and the Devil's Labyrinth. Remember those? Now, combine them together and TA-DAA.. we're close to the scale of Unia Project!

I was prepared to take on a huge task, but never in my wildest dreams did I expect something like this. So, what is Unia then? Unia is the most immersive story we have ever created. It truly takes the player on an adventure inside their deepest darkest dreams. The player becomes either a victim or a hero.. or are the roles that clear? I've given the tour of Unia to a handful of lucky people and I never find the words to truly describe it. It's just simply.. HUGE!

Stop being so vague and saying HUGE!
What does HUGE mean?

I think Unia is the only project where I use the word HUGE simply because I've never done anything to this scale before. It scares me! Let me try to describe a bit better.
Unia is not just a game that you play once.. it's neverending. The first stage however is more defined. The game takes up two full sims with several play areas. There are two player groups who can team up or choose to play solo, the outcome may be different. There are massive puzzles to solve, there are creatures that you will have to kill before they get you.. and the ending is only the beginning to the whole concept of what Unia is truly about.

Over 20 talented people are working on this project. They are being introduced to you in this blog one by one. Read their interviews, maybe they will accidentally expose more than I do..

Rest assured, you will be blown away... it's worth the wait!
<3, Kiana

Unia Collaborator Interview: Fae Varriale

Unlike anything you have ever seen on Second Life is UNIA.  Nothing that has ever been created on sl, has taken so much dedication and hard work to be realized, there is no comparison.  Immersive game-play being brought to life, in its own special way.  A world you can only dream of and imagine.  So many things await you, but we can't reveal them all.  We are so excited, as are the people behind its overall creation.  Today, we bring to you an SL artist and photographer.  She has been building for MadPea Productions, as far back as Carneval.  We present to you, our very own, the extremely impressive
Fae Varriale.

As one of the crew members, what do you do for MadPea productions?

Fae Varriale:  I am a member of the creative team, one of the builders.

Fae draws on the diversity of beautiful and unusual landscapes and has the ability to change appearance to almost anything.  She uses photographs taken in-world as the basis for her pictures.
Fae is the co-owner and co-manager of Branwen Arts Centre which houses a gallery, exhibition space and theatre.   She is Choreographer for DiversionzDance, is passionate about creating 3D art and immersive installations.

You can visit Branwen Arts Centre, using the following link:

Here is a direct link to Fae's  flickr:

When did you begin working with MadPea, and also what motivated you to join Second Life?

Fae Varriale:  I began working with the team when Carneval was being built. The Tunnel of Doom was my first build.  I joined SL as I was curious after seeing a TV show about it.  I wanted to see what the fuss was about and am still here over 5 years later.

What is UNIA?

Fae Varriale:  UNIA is a massive, immersive game based on an amazing story by Kiana.

What part do you play in the making of UNIA?

Fae Varriale:  I am one of the builders. I help out where needed and am also responsible for the design of several elements, including the farm, one of the dream scenes and the game start/events area.

Anything you want to share with the sl community regarding UNIA, what should they expect to see that might cause excitement?

Fae Varriale:  I have been working on it for several months already and I still find the whole concept more and more exciting. UNIA is huge, utilizes the vision and skills of a diverse range of artists and builders and is very different to anything I have ever seen in SL.

Is there something you would like to share with your fellow collaborators about their participation in this massive Project?

Fae Varriale:  It is humbling to work with a team of such amazing, dedicated and talented people on such an inspiring and difficult project. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes at MadPea is unbelievable.

Thank you for this interview Fae Varriale!

UNIA COMING SOON!

Dark Dimension Hunter Top 5 Interviews V

Today, we introduce you to our final top 5 hunter.  She was the 1st hunter to complete the Lennon Park Massacre hunt and has done it again, with the Dark Dimension hunt!  We congratulate her.  She completed this hunt on, 10/7/2013, at 5:33 am.  It took her a total of 12 hrs., and 19' minutes.  She is Caresia Adored, and this Pea along with so many Peas out there, rock!  In this post, she shares her thoughts on MadPea, and this new and exciting hunt!
Caresia Adored 10/7/'13, 5:33 am 12h 19'

What did you like about the Dark Dimension hunt?

I'm a huge fan of Death Row Designs, always have been, so when I found out that the hunt put together a storyline that utilized the whole sim, I was stoked.... The storyline was badass, and the decor perfectly in tune with the plot... Once again MadPea fulfills ones expectations and takes it to a new level.

What helped you complete this hunt very quickly, given that people are saying, its a challenging one?

I tend to be methodical when doing these hunts.  I make a list, keep notes, and copy things into notepad as I go along... If something is making me crazy, and I notice someone else is having the same issue, I work together with them to accomplish the goal. As far as it being challenging.. well... yeah, that's a given, this IS Madpea <3

Do you have any tips for hunters, that may be thinking of doing this hunt, for the first time?

Omgosh.... As for tips, you MUST copy/paste when things tell you stuff... very very important, unless you have one of those photographic memories.... Me, Im an old lady, so yeah, copy/paste/copy/paste.  Gotta love notepad :D

that and .... search stores in an order that works for you.  Me, I'll start on the left and work around it until I find what I'm looking for... since there aren't really any clues... it is truly a "hunt"....

Being that the original story was written by someone else, would you like to say something to them, as well as MadPea for creating this hunt?

To: Telestoi Weissmann

Dear Telestoi
You are indeed twisted, creative and gifted.  You should expect stalkers, as one who is this talented, and so acutely mad needs to be.  *grins* Enjoy the hype, post your stuff so we can see more...
hats off to you sir.
care <3

To: MadPea

Dearest MadPea staff.
Once again you have challenged my mind, creeped me out, and given me pleasure.... I salute and praise your efforts.  *BIG BIG HUGS*..... Looking forward to the next one and thank you for all your time and dedication to us crazy people....... oh wait..... us Madpeas :D
care <3

What was your favorite part?

My favorite part was exploring all the areas of DRD island.  Taking pictures, and talking to all the NPCs.  I'm a dorky World of Warcraft nerd, so all that is always like "Epic" for me *laughs*.... all my maps are filled in ;)

How did you feel about coming in top 3 and the prize?  Do you want to share what you did with the lindens?

Well, I kind of felt bad that I came in first honestly.  There were four of us working on the end puzzle together.  I had NO clue that no one else had finished it before us... so I wandered out of the church, said hello to Kiana (who was standing outside the end point.), and then after taking a few pictures in front of the cemetary gates, I went to look at the preacher man.  I was then whammied with the buttload of prizes... and started sorting through them so I could work on my blog post.

Kiana told us a few minutes later (since we were now all still standing and sitting around there) that we were the first ones done.  I was shocked cause I had gotten stumped and ended up going to sleep for a few hours, then came back refreshed and worked on it again... and low and behold.. Yeah..... somehow.... first.

As for what I did with the Lindens?
Well, I gave half of them to Chaosfear, because all four of us had worked on it together, and he was the only one of us who didn't get anything... as for the other half?  I used it to upload stuff for my store *laughs*  I know, not very exciting, but you asked :D

Woot! Caresia!

2. bloodycandycane 10/7/'13, 5:34 am 14h 59'

What did you like about the Dark Dimension hunt?

.. CαηdƔ.. (bloodycandycane): well first of all that it was little harder than other hunts made it fun for me the hud was great too when you thought it was almost finished and it wasn't, but it was hard to be up front no extra clues etc.

What helped you complete this hunt very quickly, given that people are saying, its a challenging one?

.. CαηdƔ.. (bloodycandycane): I don't take all the credit to the win i had a team through most of the hunt. We kinda helped one another the ones in front teamed up so to say to help one another some did not finish with me due to RL things and had to go, but mostly ones up front tried to help one another.

In this snapshot, are Candy and her friend Fanta, during one of their Dark Dimension moments:-)

Do you have any tips for hunters, that may be thinking of doing this hunt, for the first time?

.. CαηdƔ.. (bloodycandycane): had to use certain words in the clues they helped to find the items, patience :) Don't give up! Do the hunt in pairs it helped.

Being that the original story was written by someone else, would you like to say something to them, as well as MadPea for creating this hunt?

.. CαηdƔ.. (bloodycandycane): it was a great hunt and a great story loved it, being lost made it even more exciting thank you all. I say lost, due to the story went till the end and you had to keep going to know what the whole story was.

What was your favorite part?

.. CαηdƔ.. (bloodycandycane): The ending.

How did you feel about coming in top 3 and the prize?  Do you want to share what you did with the lindens?

.. CαηdƔ.. (bloodycandycane): I shared a lot of it with others who were there with me, most of the way.

Woot! Candy!

Unia Collaborator Interview: Jaimy Hancroft

A project such as UNIA requires an elaborate team.  A team that  binds together like glue with the use of many different ideas, art styles, talents, dreams, and minds. Collectively, they will prove that UNIA, is truly an exceptional upcoming game in the making.  Where darkness, light, life, death, all things will contribute to its existence.  So many talented individuals in the making of UNIA, such as Jaimy Hancroft.  She was able to speak with me, despite her very busy schedule, and today we introduce you to the one and only, the multifaceted, Jaimy Hancroft.

Who are you and what do you do on second life?

I own a store called, Death Row Designs, and it has been around since, 2008. Since then, I started creating items, that I would love for myself. I began creating things that I liked, and wanted for myself that I couldn't find in real life or in Second Life. I make original clothes and taught myself z brush and Photoshop.  Everything I make is original.  I am also the proud co-owner of 'DWARFINS' fantasy community simulation game.  I am co-owner, designer, and work alongside my sister Eowyn Swords for meshES and other projects.

Below is The Drax Files: World Makers video featuring: Dwarfins:

Here are  links to Jaimy's marketplace stores,  flickr page, & facebook page.

meshES

What do you enjoy about second life?

What I like about Second Life is the fact that one can create things that they can visualize.  For i.e., a cabin of nightmares and creating things that aren't and couldn't be possible to create in real life.  Although I am always mostly busy, I do enjoy hanging out, visiting clubs, visiting art sims, festivals, and exploring, when I do get a chance.

How would you describe your art style and what kind of art or theme is your is your favorite and you most identify with?

The Art which I identify mostly with in real life is digital painting. I identify and like dark art, freaky, weird, creepy, and unusual.

Is there one thing that you have created, that you would consider the most special to you personally and creatively?

The Lazy Boots would be the the most precious and I would hate to lose them from my inventory. They were the first sculpt boots I ever created.  I made them, because I couldn't find any untied combat boots at all at that time in second life.  I really wanted them.  I didn't know how to make anything at the time, but it was my very first hand made sculpted item.  I think I sold over a thousand of them.  The loose untied look became sort of a DRD official trademark.

What is the reason you joined second life and when, was there a particular time or something that inspired you do what you do, on Second Life?

My dad motivated me in joining Second Life, he was a part of Second Life, before I was.  I joined and my dad passed away a year later.  The reason I stood in Second Life to keep my dad's legacy alive.

How would you describe UNIA to others?

In UNIA you will get to experience nightmares and walking into the craziest places.

Do you have a specific thing, that you have been involved with on sl, that you enjoy very much?

Dwarfins!  It is a fun community, and I have always loved MadPea, its the reason I joined the MadPea group.

In UNIA, what is your dream scene that you have created based on?

My dream scene is based on a flash monster.

Did you ever partake in any of the MadPea games or hunts?  If so, which one?

In June of 2011, I created for Sanity falls, a character.

Is there anything you would like to say to the MadPea Crew?

Thank you for always supporting me, DRD in everything.

Thank you for this interview Jaimy Hancroft!

Dark Dimension Hunter Top 5 Interviews III

Hello Peas!

Hope you all are enjoying the Dark Dimension Hunt.  Today we get to talk to our third hunter to finish this dark and challenging hunt.  This beautiful lady banded with her fellow hunters as a group to make their way through.  This increased their effectiveness and fun factor!  Read on to get all the juicy details!

3. pearl Solano 10/7/'13, 5:37 am 15h 6'

What did you like about the Dark Dimension hunt?

Leesha Azara (pearl.solano): for starters, I never miss your hunts, and the dark dimension was at the height of my expectations, the difficulty was increasing and the story really well chosen, I love going to all the shops that are your partners.

What helped you complete this hunt very quickly, given that people are saying, its a challenging one?

Leesha Azara (pearl.solano): We were able to help each other more in the hunt. Girls that I came across on the sim and several shops, so we have gathered and we get together.

Do you have any tips for hunters, that may be thinking of doing this hunt, for the first time?

Leesha Azara (pearl.solano): we formed a group to hunt. SEVERAL were passionate, and the hunt is more enjoyable and more fun when you're in a group of friends and looking for allies. You must also have patience, and a very good graphics card, frankly it helps = p

Being that the original story was written by someone else, would you like to say something to them, as well as MadPea for creating this hunt?

Leesha Azara (pearl.solano): The person who wrote the story, which I forget the name, is a genius, he understood the spirit of the hunt in MadPea. I congratulate him for this scenario very well put together, the history of the prison brings something scary. Searching the mind of a murderer was really exciting, I'm sure if the opportunity was given to him he could still surprise us.

What was your favorite part?

Leesha Azara (pearl.solano): having to look for the bones on the DRD sim. I found it particularly fun, because they were very well hidden.  Some clues were also hilarious. I remember the condemned prisoner, because of his flatulence.

How did you feel about coming in top 3 and the prize?  Do you want to share what you did with the lindens?

Leesha Azara (pearl.solano): Well actually, I did not expect to finish in the top three, I thought others had already finished, so I stayed to help. I was the first to solve the puzzle ... I then followed the ones I helped and I discovered that we were the first to finish. The lindens have helped me pay part of the rent of my sim, so I can keep it and receive visitors.

Were you able to do the side mini hunt afterwards?

Leesha Azara (pearl.solano): I would participate in all madpeas hunts in the future. Your work is beautiful and I congratulate the entire team for the collective efforts that makes it so fun. Do not stop! Your hunts are an important part of my life on sl. I am not engaged in any other hunts other than yours as they fascinate me.

Woot! Pearl!
