Yay, it is PRIMTIONARY Day!

After the great succes of last Saturday we are looking forward to a great second round. PRIMTIONARY is fun for all who love to play and build.

What is PRIMTIONARY?

After eight years of continuous fun, PRIMTIONARY may just be the longest-running, most popular game in Second Life. It was created in early 2004. The rules are simple: the contestant puts together prims to build out a secret word, while the audience tries to guess the word within 10 minutes. The audience member that gets it right earns 25L and the privilege of building the next word. PRIMTIONARY is a challenge for both your mind and your building skills. From easy to impossible, we've got a level for you!

How to play?

An experience truly unique to the virtual world, PRIMTIONARY is the modern Pictionary: One person gets up on stage and is given a secret word by the host which describes what they have to build. The volunteer must try to build using basic prims. As they build the audience tries to figure out what the word is. The first person to guess the word wins a token prize - currently 25 Lindens per word - and, more importantly, the privilege of building the next word.

PRIMTIONARY is free of charge and open to all. Many experienced SL builders acquired their essential skills on a PRIMTIONARY stage.

WHEN?

Come today, Saturday at 2 PM SLT!
Guess, build, win Linden and have fun!

The Landscaping Hedgehog

Sanity Falls, taken by paramparamm Papp
MadPea Productions is glad to have again paramparamm Papp as part of the builders team for the upcoming game. The breathtaking layout of the Sanity Falls sim created by him got much appreciation and recognition.

Param at "Further along the Path", taken by P.J. Trenton
And it must have been one of the works that made Bryn Oh aware of “param”, as many of his friends say. Bryn invited param to take part of the collaborative art work “Further along the Path” and he luckily agreed. It is still displayed. Go and see, you will love it! param does not like to create works with forced meanings. We agreed that good art reaches mind and heart.

When Bryn contacted me I was shocked for about half a second...cos, you know, she probably haven't seen any of my previous works, even though there were some pretty big ones...plus they weren't "art" art....” param is overly humble. He did some remarkable works, like the the VWBPE (virtual worlds' best practices in education) converence's main auditorium, which was build for the conference at the corner of 4 regions and was big as region itself (photos taken by paramparamm Papp):

We wondered if the interest in building brought him into Second Life. But it was more: “Well it's a virtual reality! it is exciting... is the future ^^...as we saw it decades ago when stuff like that appeared in sci-fi.” paramparamm became aware of Second Life by a TV Show about 5 years ago: “I was watching a TV show that chose virtual realities as topic for an episode... they showed a bit of SL. It looked really crappy at the time but they mentioned something that instantly lured us over: It was the fact that the whole world was being built by its residents... that you could create pretty much whatever you wanted.” After entering Second Life he explored this virtual world and started a while later to build.

He decided to be a hedgehog in Second Life: “ Hedgehogs are cool, cute and smelly.
Nothing like me at all  :D  Except maybe the smelly part.... Being a tiny helps a lot in my social interactions. Some of what I say would normally be considered rude or offensive and.. well, at least grumpy... But because I am a tiny I am allowed to do all that. Hedgie cuteness compensates for my bad personality treats.” His avatar is worth a closer look. It is decorated with much cute items created by friends or himself.

Gladly the sweet, grumpy hedgehog agreed again to do the landscaping for the reconstruction of the MadPea sims. Param: “That's what I'm doing here right now. Make some height differences, decide what goes where, connect the spots with roads....But I won't be doing any of the buildings. I really need to take some time and learn new stuffs instead.” Builders are constantly learning in order to keep updated with the latest building software...

Saying this he went. As many builders he does not really like to give interviews. And so read at the end paramparamm Papp's message to the world: "You can skip reading this post - I am not that interesting :)"

Creative Direction for MadPea

Harter Fall
Good news! MadPea has a Creative Director: Harter Fall! For the many huge projects ahead Madpea needed besides Kiana Writer who is responsible for the concepts, another one who covers the building part. Harter cooperates with MadPea already more than 6 months and amazed all players with his brilliant dreamscenes, which has been one of the absolute highlights at Sanity Falls.

Harter is RL graphic designer and was already in 3D modelling when he came 2007 in SL. He immediately started building and created at the beginning clothes and accessories. When he built, he experienced the the SL alpha bug which gave his work another direction.

Harter was already interested in art and in his first days to visit galleries and to follow the art scenes. He built his first trials of NPIRL (not possible in real life) art pieces. As a huge fan of M.C. Escher he was highly inspired by his incredible works. But Harter did not dare to show his works in the art scene. It changed in 2009, when he met Ally Aeon, Penelope Parx and other members of the Aeonia Art Group, which is still his artistic home. Harter did further research in realising of optical illusions in Second Life. He won several art prizes with his amazing art works.

His Second Life changed when he came to MadPea. Designing games was a dream since childhood and MadPea opened the chance to make it come true. Sanity Falls was the fist big step to it. As Creative Director he will take more responsibility for the upcoming projects additional to his building work. Harter comments smiling: "The creators in our team have strong skills and personalities. They have a lot of freedom in their design in order to be able to truly use their skillsets in the best way possible. As a creative director I am making sure that everyone is on the same page and the whole project with all its little details has a consistent design and layout."

The reconstruction of 3 sims a huge job. At present the team works on the new construction of MadPea Base and give it the face of a creepy carnival. And the next game will be bigger and more challenging than all games before. Harter: “It will be dreamy and spooky. One has to solve tasks and fight for the own life. Be prepared for a big adventure....”
